Guest Lecture on Pharmacovigilance: Ensuring Drug Safety and Public Health

Global College of Pharmacy, Kahnpur Khui, Anandpur Sahib, celebrated the 4th National Pharmacovigilance Week from 17th to 23rd September 2024 in which our institute delivered seminars in different schools, and also conducted a guest lecture in the college campus regarding the “celebration of 4th National Pharmacovigilance Week by Mr. Abhishek (Safety Science Coordinator at Fortrea Scientific Services). This initiative aimed to promote the science of collecting, monitoring, researching, assessing, and evaluating information from healthcare providers and patients on the adverse effects of medications, biological products, blood products, herbals, vaccines, medical devices, traditional and complementary medicines to identify new information about hazards associated with products and preventing harm to patients. The challenge of maximizing drug safety and maintaining public confidence has become increasingly complex. Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies must not only monitor but also proactively estimate and manage drug risk throughout a product’s lifecycle, from development to post-market.

Under the guidance and encouragement of the faculty members, students of the B. Pharmacy program actively participated. The primary objective was to ensure patient safety and public health by monitoring the safety of drugs and to minimize the risks

The event was inaugurated by the esteemed Chairman of the college, Dr. J.S. Gill. and  Principal Dr.Sanjiv Duggal graced the occasion with their presence. The enthusiasm and commitment of the college community were evident as they gathered to contribute to this noble cause.
