Introduction
A clay modeling competition was organized at GCET Kahnpur Khui on 27th Sept, 2024 as part of the college's initiative to promote creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning among students. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, with each team showcasing their artistic talent and conceptual skills through unique clay sculptures. The competition aimed to foster creative thinking, enhance fine motor skills, and provide a platform for students to express their ideas in a tangible form.
Objectives of the Competition
The primary objectives of organizing the clay modeling competition were:
To encourage students to engage in a hands-on creative activity that enhances motor skills and manual dexterity.
To stimulate cognitive and analytical thinking by requiring participants to conceptualize and create physical models.
To provide a platform for emotional and artistic expression through sculpture, fostering emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
To promote teamwork and collaboration as students worked together to bring their creative ideas to life.
Event Overview
The competition was held in the college’s main auditorium, where students were provided with all the necessary materials, including clay, sculpting tools, and workspaces. Participants were given two hours to complete their sculptures, with themes ranging from "Nature's Beauty" to "Technological Innovations." The event was judged by a panel of faculty members from the art and design departments, who evaluated the sculptures based on creativity, technical skill, concept execution, and overall presentation.
Participation and Teamwork
A total of 7 teams, each comprising 2 students from different engineering and science disciplines, participated in the competition. The students demonstrated excellent teamwork and collaboration, dividing tasks among themselves to conceptualize, design, and sculpt their models within the given time frame. The cross-disciplinary nature of the teams allowed for diverse ideas and approaches, resulting in a wide variety of unique and creative sculptures.
