REPORT: VISIT TO SRI ANANDPUR SAHIB BY FRESHERS STUDENTS BATCH

Global College of Pharmacy, Kahanpur Khuhi, Anandpur Sahib – 140117, Punjab, organised an enriching educational and spiritual excursion to the historic town of Sri Anandpur Sahib. The trip aimed to introduce the newly inducted pharmacy students to the rich cultural tapestry and heritage of Punjab, blending academic bonding with historical learning. The visit was organised under the esteemed guidance of Director/Chairman Mr. J. S. Gill and Principal Dr. Sanjiv Duggal, with the valuable support and encouragement of Management Members Mr. Vaneet and Mr. B. S. Rana. The programme was coordinated by Dr Riya Sharma and Dr Dupinder Kaur.

The journey began with a comprehensive tour of Virasat-e-Khalsa, the world-renowned heritage museum. The students explored its interactive galleries, marvelling at the multimedia exhibits, life-sized dioramas, and hand-painted murals that narrate 500 years of Sikh history and Punjabi culture. The faculty coordinator Dr Riya Sharma highlighted the museum’s architectural brilliance, encouraging students to appreciate the precision and planning behind uch grand cultural monuments.

Following the museum visit, the batch proceeded to the historic Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib and Sri Sheshganj Sahib. At this sacred shrine, the students paid their respects and learned about the historic birth of the Khalsa Panth in 1699. Dr. Dupinder Kaur guided the students through the display of historic weapons preserved at the Takht, offering insights into the regions brave legacy.

The visit concluded with the students partaking in Langar (the community kitchen), emphasizing the universal values of humanity, equality, and selfless service. Speaking about the excursion, the organizing faculty noted that stepping outside the conventional pharmacy curriculum helps develop well-rounded, socially conscious individuals while serving as an excellent ice-breaker for the freshers to build lasting peer relationships.
